Each year the Live Green Expo has organized a recycling collection event during its annual Expo. In 2009 more than 2,000 North Texans participated in a collection drive that included computers, TVs, books, shoes, eye glasses, etc. This year, the Expo has decided to collect just one item and we've partnered with The Shoe Bank to help launch a 6-12 month effort to collect shoes and distribute them to the earthquake survivors in Haiti.
Shoe Collection Instructions:
~ Very gently used/new shoes for children ~ Very gently used/new adult athletic shoes ~ No flip flops ~ No dress shoes ~ Tie laces or use rubber bands to keep the pairs together

The program today provides shoes for twenty thousand people every year - primarily children, both here and abroad. For more information visit them online at www.shoebank.org or contact Mike Barringer at (972) 771-7658 / MichaelBarringer@sbcglobal.net.
Distributing Organizations: One 5 Foundation, Orphans of the World and Airline Ambassadors International have all agreed to assist with transporting and distributing shoes in Haiti. Two shipments of shoes are already in route to Haiti.
